The Australian population is drawn from over 100 different countries, making for great diversity in family life: in patterns of parenting, marriage, kin relationships and responsibilities, child rearing and the part played by older people in families. This study looks at the family life of the major ethnic groups: Anglo-Celtic, Aboriginal, Chinese, Filipino, Greek, Italian, Latin American, Lebanese and Vietnamese. Each chapter emphasizes continuity and change in family patterns and the issues families from different backgrounds face in contemporary Australia.
