Question details

A 3 phase, 2 pole, delta connected, 22 kV (line to line), 300 MVA round motor synchronous is operated as a 50 Hz generator. With a rotor current of 500A, the open circuit generated voltage is 22kV(line to line) at 50 Hz and the short circuit current 10000A. Assuming a linear open circuit characteristic and negligible stator winding resistance.

a) Determine the synchronous reactance at 50 Hz.

b) Calculate the required rotor current for operation at rated stator current and voltage with 0.8 lagging power factor.

c) Calculate the load angle for (b)

d) Calculate voltage regulation.
