A 7500 Rt volume of Saturated Clay had a Void Ratio of0 875 and a Specific Gravity of 28 A fill was then placed over the clay causing it to compress. This compression is called Consolidation. During this process some of the water was squeezed out of the clay layer voids. However, the volume of the solids remained unchanged. After consolidation the xoid ratio was O.Gso I. Compute the initial and final moisture content of the clay in % 2. Compute the final(new) volume of the clay layer in ft 3. Compute the volume of water squeezed out of the clay layer in cubic feet(ft) and gallons(Gals.)
