a) An X-ray tube contains a tungsten target which has the following binding energies of electron shells (below). What is the minimum voltage to be applied to the tube, to produce a Kα radiation?

Binding energies of electrons in tungsten:

K: 69.508 keV

LI: 12.090 keV

LII: 11.535 keV

LIII: 10.198 keV

b) In tungsten, an electron from the LIII shell is filling a gap in the K-shell. Please calculate the energy of the corresponding Kα radiation emitted.
