Compressible flow 2. Consider a converging-diverging nozzle which is fed from a large reservoir where the conditions are stagnant with a pressure and temperature of 800 kPa and 40 C, respectively. The nozzle discharges into a downstream reservoir where the back pressure is controlled by means of a valve. The nozzle is designed to expand air isentropically to an exit Mach number of 2.7. (a) Calculate the range of pressures which create the subsonic, non-isentropic, over- expansion and under-expansion flow regimes. (b) Sketch, qualitatively, the exhaust flow patterns for the over-expansion and under-expansion regimes, and discuss salient features. For these regimes, determine the mass-flow rate per unit nozzle-exit area
