To begin building the wall, a piledriver is used to ram a pile (or a post) into the ground. A piledriver effectively drops a weight onto the piles to drive them into the ground. The mass is 250kg, the difference in height between the mass and the top of the pile is 4m, and the spring constant of the pile is 200kN/m. Assume gravity is 10 N/kg 4lm]

First, assume that the energy of the dropping mass is insufficient to drive the pile into the ground and thus the energy is entirely used to compress the pile. Determine the deflection of the pile (You may ignore the additional gravitational energy caused by deflection for a 1 mark penalty. Also, you may use any method you like, but energy methods will be easier!)
