Hi, I am new to this so not sure how to ask what I am looking for but I will try my best to explain. I am writing a Research Proposal for my Cognitive Neuroscience unit. I am a little lost as this is the first time I am ever writing a Research Proposal.
My reasearch question is The neurological basis of impaired social cognition in Autism Sprectrum Disorder (ASD).
I am planning to use fMRI technique to understand the neurological basis of impaired social cognition in ASD patients compared to healthy controls using an experimental task (rating faces for trustworthiness). However, I feel that this has been done before and there isn't anything significant to add?
The parts where I am struggling are:
1) What should my research add that's new and not covered in the past literature?
2) What kind of study design (longitudnal, cross-sectional, randomised control trial, etc) should I use?
3) What kind of statistic would help (t-tests, ANOVA or something else?) in researching this topic?
I have attached the screenshots to explain the question a little better.
I have done some reading and found these 2 articles, hope they help!
