Draw separate extended free-body diagrams of each balance beam. Indicate on your sketches all the forces exerted on each beam and label each force appropriately. Show the vectors for the contact forces as being exerted at their point ofapplication. (Hint: cach diagram should include 4 forces C. Answer the following questions for each of the cases A and B Do each of the forces on your diagrams result in a torque about the pivot? Explain Justify why it is not necessary to consider the mass of the balance beam in determining the net torque about the pivot. Is there a net torque about the pivot in A?
