Problem 1: Find the total friction loss in 100 mm diameter G.I. pipe discharging 4 L/s in a total length of 300 m. Assume pipe roughness, ε-0.20 mm. [2 points] Hints: Use the Nomogram from the lecture notes slide, use the head loss equation (Darcy-Weisbach equation) to calculate, hs and Moodys diagram to estimate friction factor, f and compare the results. Problem 2: Based on the Example 2-2 in the Lecture Note, the pressure at the second floor faucet in the residential building is 45 psi, which is less than the recommended domestic pressure range of 50 to 60 psi. It is considered that an additional pump will be installed at point 1 to provide the recommended pressure at the faucet. Estimate the S1.
