Q4. a) A separately excited DC motor has a constant load torque of 60 Nm. The motor is driven by a full-wave converter connected to a 240 V ac supply. The field constant of the motor K, 2.5 and the armature resistance is 2 Ω. Calculate the triggering angle for the motor to operate at 200 rpm. Assume the current is continuous. [10 Marks] b) A 750 hp, 250 V, 1200 rpm dc series motor is connected to a 208 V, 3 phase, 60 Hz line using a 3 phase bridge converter. The full load armature current is 2500 A and the armature resistance is 4 m2. Calculate ● The required firing angle α under rated full load conditions ii. The firing angle required so that the motor develops its rated torque at 400 rpm [10 Marks]
