Shaft a in Figure 7 has a power input of 75 kW at a speed of 1000 rpm in the counterclockwise direction. This spur gear system has a module of 5 mm and a 20° pressure angle, and Gear 3 is set as an idler gear. Assuming a 95% efficiency of each gear pair, answer the following questions: Gi) List two assumptions that are needed for this analysis. (2 marks) (ii) Find the force that Gear 3 exerts against shaft b. (6 marks)
