Question details

The power dissipated by a resistor (or a material resistive in nature) is defined by either P=I^2*R or P=V^2/R. How can it be that P is at the same time proportional and inversely proportional to R ? Say If the resistance is doubled, the first equation suggests that power is doubled, while the second that power is halved. What am I missing here?
