The advertised gas mileage for the Civic is 31 MPG. Assume that the MPG of car trips in the Civic is normally distributed with a standard deviation of 4 MPG. (a) Assume that the advertised gas mileage of the Civic is the true mean gas mileage of the car. What is the probability that the sample mean obtained from the 15 car trips is between 30 and 33 MPG? (b) over the 15 car trips, the sample mean came out to be 29.3 MPG. What is the probability of obtaining a sample mean even smaller than that? Assume that the true mean gas mileage is still 31 MPG.
