Textbooks

What does dispatch in 3-7 business days mean?
This means that the publisher should have stock for this book and it will take 3-7 days to arrive to us (lead times vary by publisher and will be displayed for each title). We will then ship the book out to you and you should receive the book based off our delivery frames per state. Please note that in rare cases, the publisher may run out of stock in which case we will contact you. If you provide us an incorrect address for delivery and the package is returned to us, you will be responsible for paying $8.95 for a re-delivery fee. 
PLEASE NOTE: If your order includes a backordered item, we will dispatch your order once all your items have arrived at our warehouse. If you would prefer a partial shipment of your order, please contact us to request a partial shipment. 

When do items dispatch from your office?
Dispatch is usually at 5pm daily so if you order before 2pm your order will be dispatched on the same day. Dispatch times may be longer during peak periods, such as at the start of semesters.

How does rental work?
 
Textbook rental is a simple, new, revolutionary idea that is already saving University students millions of dollars annually across the globe. Simply order your textbooks, have them delivered (or pick them up), use them for when you need and return when done! It’s an easy, sure fire way to save money without the hassle and financial guesswork involved in trying to resell your textbooks at the end of semester. Unfortunately we do not accept PayPal for rentals.

Why not just buy textbooks and resell them after use?
Did you know that most Australian university students are essentially already partaking in book rental? Think about it, when you buy a textbook at the beginning of the semester and then sell it at the end, essentially you are only paying for the time used by you. During this time you are also trying to keep the book neat for re-sale. This is essentially rental, however buying and selling comes with the added risk of not being able to sell your books. In a three year degree buying and selling will most likely never accumulate to the same level of saving as through renting, if not purely from the lack of consistency. That’s why we thought, why not rent?

How much does it save?
Did you know that in a three year degree the average student will spend as much as $3,300 on textbooks? A student who rents throughout the term of their course could therefore spend thousands of dollars less than a student who buys. Obviously this margin is smaller when compared to those who buy second hand, or those who attempt to sell their books at the end of semester, however in the majority of cases rental is still cheaper in the long run due to its consistency.

Can I write or highlight in my book?
Although writing is not allowed in rentals, students can highlight text. If you do accidentally write in the book don’t panic, just leave a note when you return the title and as long as it is still reusable you will not be charged.

Receiving my book
Once you have ordered your books, you will receive a confirmation of your order. You will then receive your books in a minimum of 24 hours if it's in stock or 3-9 business days if we need to order it in.

What happens if lose my book?
In the event that you lose your book you will be charged the difference from the price of the rental to the RRP of the book.

Are there any late fees?
Late fees will be incurred after the due date, which is usually a week or two after the end of semester. In this case you will be charged $5 per week after that; however we still offer free pickup at these times. Customers may also be charged if they organise a pickup and are not there at the designated time.

What happens if I damage my book?
In some cases damaged books may be repaired, in which case the customer will not be charged. However if the book is damaged beyond repair or is otherwise unfit for future use the customer may be charged the remainder of the retail price, in which case they can keep the book.

What happens if I want to keep the book?
If you decide at some point in your rental that you wish to purchase the book you may do so, in which case you will be charged the remainder of the retail price. Our purchase prices often include a discount depending on the title.

My book hasn’t arrived what do I do?
If you have not received your book after 1-3 days after receiving your order confirmation you can log on to your Zookal account and find out what stage your book's delivery is in. If there seems to be a delay, please contact us and inform us of the problem. Make sure you include your receipt number and account name when filling a complaint.

What is your 14 day money back guarantee?
We offer a 14 day refund period if you drop your course or no longer require the textbooks. You will receive a full refund, less shipping costs. Our refund policy does not apply to Vitalsource eBooks or Cengage eBooks. These titles are firm sale. If the title is packaged together with an access code, the access code must not be used to be entitled to a refund. 

How do I return my rental?

We offer 3 free methods to return your books back to us. You may return separate rental orders in one parcel / box in order to speed up returns processing.

1) Return your books at your local ParcelPoint location.
Visit Zookal Returns @ ParcelPoint. Enter your details, select your most convenient ParcelPoint location, then download and print your ParcelPoint return label (the address should display ParcelPoint Hub, 285 Coward Street, Mascot). Use a ParcelPoint label to lodge your return at a ParcelPoint location.

2) Return your books at an Australia Post Office (not available in all locations - please email us for a label).
Visit Zookal Returns @ ParcelPoint. Enter your details, select Australia Post eParcel, then download and print your Australia Post eParcel label. Use the Australia Post eParcel label to lodge your return at an Australia Post Office.

3) You can return the books between 10:00am and 5:00pm weekdays to our Head Office located at:
