This textbook offers a comprehensive survey of continuous and discrete time linear systems. It uses a systems approach to solving practical engineering problems, rather than using the framework of traditional circuit theory. Numerous examples from circuit theory appear throughout. It discusses zero-rated response and zero-imput response and relates these concepts to classical forced/transient response analysis. Routh array is also discussed - introducing stability and providing a clear test for it. A state variables treatment is used to introduce discrete time topics for easy transition from continuous time to discrete time treatment. This edition includes many more design problems and examples and takes a practical approach to Fourier methods. More design applications illustrate text material and aim to provide insight into the application of tools and techniques for solving practical engineering problems. The material on modelling is expanded in an appendix and more attention is paid to signal processing applications of the FFT.
